You have been such an important person in my life, not only because you are my step-mother, but because you have always been so kind to me. You always listen when I need to talk, and offer helpful, yet thoughtful advice. No matter what I was "complaining" about - in-laws, old boyfriends, Sarah's health, even my concern for my dad, you always knew just what to say to make me feel better about the situation. Even when I told you about my friend's daughter being sick, you took the time to look up information for me to pass on to her. You are a selflss and caring person, and I wish more people in this world could be like you.

I have so many memories of our times together. From meeting you in Rhode Island, to our walks with Misty and Sandy on the paths behind your house on Copper Hill Court.

I remember our trips to the zoo, sight-seeing and museums in Washington.

I remember watching videos at night, and even watching "The Perfect Storm".

I remember the delicious cookies and treats you always made when we came to visit, and even when you came to visit us.

I remember the trips to the Mall, and to get a yoghurt on the way home.

I remember Sarah watching as you blew bubbles for her on your driveway. I remember Sarah sitting on your lap watching you with as much love as any child can love her grandmother. It didn't matter to her that you were her "step" grandmother. To her you were as much a grandmother as my mom and Rick's mom.

But what I remember most about you is that you are the strongest, most generous, lovingest, and kindest people I know.

And how happy you made my father. You have been there during some of the most difficult times of his life. You have always loved him unconditionally and supported him. Having you in his life has meant everything to him, and to me. I hope you always knew how much he loves you and how much I love you.

I will never forget what you have done for my father, and for how you have touched my life. You will forever by Sarah's "Grandma Jean", and even though she is too young to understand, you will always have a place in her heart, because you will always have a place in mine.
